Sarakatsani was originally a nomadic group which now has settled in three areas: Thrace, Epirus, and Attica. The Sarakatsani of Thrace is the last group which abandoned the nomadic life. A section of the Greek Sarakatsani population is nowdays in Bulgaria when they were cut off by the drawing of the borders. Their costume is a woolen foustanella which is worn with black or white woolen leggings.
